Saturday, January 17, 2026

Highlights:

Eun Jo and Yeol's misunderstanding resolves naturally as they talk inside Hyeminseo.
– In episode 2, Eun Jo thought Yeol set a trap to catch her.
– In episode 3, while treating Yeol's wound, she asks him how he got injured. Yeol tells her he got hurt when he was helping someone escape to safety. Only then does Eun Jo realize Yeol really meant it when he said he will embrace Gil Dong's thievery as long as his doings still in the range where Yeol can reach.

Yeol goes to have a meet-up with the King.
– When Eun Jo goes to the Chief Inspector's house as one of her duties as a physician, by chance, she ends up picking up the book with the Chief Inspector's crimes recorded in it.
– Eun Jo is appalled, but the person who might be able to do better than her with the evidence of the Chief Inspector's crimes, whom she can only think of at that moment, is Yeol.
– With that in mind, Eun Jo again disguises as Gil Dong that night and goes to meet Yeol. She gives the book to Yeol—hoping that Yeol will take action—but she is met with a cold shoulder.
– Yeol said he embraces his thievery, but he also won't take action against corrupted officials in Joseon.
– Only after Gil Dong leaves in disappointment does Yeol read the letter left by Gil Dong, intended for the Grand Prince, which is him.
Annoyed and ego-bruised by Gil Dong's earnestness, Yeol decides to meet his King brother.

– Yeol last met his King brother on the night of the Gyeongo Year. This time, Yeol goes to meet the King because he expects the King to punish the Chief Inspector personally to make sure the Chief Inspector really gets punished.
– After the King gets to know Yeol's true intention on why he reports the matter by himself to His Majesty, which is because he feels humiliated, the King decides to play into his role as Yeol's elder brother and punishes the Chief Inspector to spare Yeol's last bit of pride.

Yeol's feelings for Eun Jo grow.
– Yeol is hoping their first kiss is not a mistake.
– In a later meeting with Eun Jo, Yeol even asks Eun Jo whether she has a man she loves. Yeol also asks Eun Jo out on a date and clearly states his intention of wanting to start courting her.

Afterthoughts on the highlights:
● With Eun Jo's misunderstanding of Yeol resolved, Eun Jo is thankful to Yeol, and she gets to know Yeol better without Yeol knowing she is actually Gil Dong.
– I'm so happy to see their misunderstanding resolve so naturally and quickly, wasting no time. I think Yeol's side as a royal aide who enables her thievery and lets her take care of her people in her own way is what makes Eun Jo open her heart further to Yeol and grow fond of him.

● From Yeol's meeting with His Majesty the King, it seems like there was a serious incident that happened in the palace on the night of the Gyeongo Year, which has since severely disrupted and left a mark on the lives of those people who were involved.
– I can't wrap my head around the King's relationship with Yeol—the King said Yeol drew his sword on His Majesty in their last meeting years before, but yet the King still acts to punish the Chief Inspector for Yeol.

Yeol feels like a green-flag man. He is straightforward with his feelings. He also communicates with confidence and clearly, without confusing Eun Jo. It is such a joy to see when a character knows and is sure of their own feelings, instead of a character who doesn't know what they want.

Other happenings:
The supernatural aspects of this drama are absolutely intriguing.
– It feels quite magical when there is a timely butterfly flying past Eun Jo, leading her to look in Yeol's direction, and when a cat makes a meow sound, catching Yeol's attention, which then brings him to Hyeminseo where Eun Jo is. It is all the more fascinating when the cat is shown to have the shadow of a man with a gat

It would be interesting to see if there would be an entity like a deity appearing in the upcoming episodes 😂

● It's unexpected to see the Chief Secretary and his allies are not afraid of the King, but are rather being cautious of Prince Lee Yeol. It is to the point that he even tells his people to secretly follow Prince Lee Yeol to see where he goes and who he is with.
– It would be frustrating to see if the Chief Secretary later becomes a threat to Yeol and Eun Jo's safety.

● It is so nice to see Eun Jo and Yeol spending time talking to each other above Hyeminseo's roofs.

– This drama can feel heavy at times with its palace politics. However, their sweet scenes together give people strength to continue watching this drama. Even more so when Yeol indirectly tells Eun Jo that he will support her and that she can quit everything if she wants to. That warms people's hearts, especially those who are having a hard time.
